That Special Feeling

It was an experience.

The anticipation. Radio promotion. Articles from Circus, Kerrang!, and Rolling Stone. The physical trip. Finding the right bin and making sure there was enough dough in your pocket to cover it and perhaps a EP from the import bins in back to compliment your primary purpose. The tangible feel. The thrill of ripping of cellophane, the initial whiff of sweet toxicity. And finally, the sound of stylus touching vinyl.

Drone, the gatefold double-LP.

It was the only new music experience in the pre-digital world. It’s been soul-warming to see the resurgence of vinyl over the past decade and even more encouraging to see that Gen-Z is leading the charge.

When we set off to create our concept album, Drone, we wanted to replicate that experience for those of us who lived our teenage years pre-internet -- sonically in our influences from the Masters of rock from the 60’s through 00’s, our creation of a concept album, seldom-done in today’s streaming world, and tangibly through the production of a double-LP with artwork and lyrics to fully experience that old special feeling of holding vinyl.

Fully immersed in today, where over-booked busyness, responsibilities and home and at work and habitual consumption of music in personalized digital chunks tend to whittle away at time for active music listening, our hope is that listeners take an hour and feel the experience in Drone. Perhaps with a favorite relaxation aid, maybe even with a group of friends.

Music unites. We hope Drone helps in some small and repeatable way to not only connect with likeminded music-lovers but, more importantly, with themselves. How do you see yourself in Drone Man? Listen to the stylus.
